CNPP Condemns El-Rufai Style of Governance

Written by

Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) Kaduna State chapter has raised dissatisfaction over Governor El-Rufai's style of governance. The conference observed that the governor's actions are not in conformity with the rule of laws as provided  in the 1999 constitution.  One of such anomalies being failure to conduct the LG elections in the 23 local government areas of the state.

The ‎CNPP has also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his promise by withholding the local government funds from the Federation Account to any state that refuse to conduct local government elections as from October allocation.

Addr‎essing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, the state Chairman,Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim Taba flanked by members of other political parties in the state in a text titled; "the deteriorating state of governance and mis-management of human and financial resources of Kaduna State by Governor El-rufai led administration" said the governor has failed in the mandate given to him by the good people of Kaduna State.

"We the Kaduna State chapter of CNPP frowned at the way and manner, APC led government under the leadership of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai is steering the boat of leadership in Kaduna State which leave. So much to be desired, especially as it affects adherence to the rule of Law as provided‎. By. The 1999 Constitution.

"The dictatorial tendencies of Governor El-rufai administration in the state requires the urgent attention of all well meaning Nigerians, especially stakeholders in Kaduna State to call him to order to avoid mismanagement of the dwindling state financial and abundant huuman resources.

"The two years of his administration undermine democracy, it's norms and values, state development, promote disunity and‎ perfect the phenomenon of wealth without enterprise through corruption for example, the so-called school feeding program, street naming project, street lightening, refuse dump collection, KADGIST project which. Are costing the state billions of naira.

"We also noted his desire to deliberately avoid conduct of local government election up till‎ the end of his administration contrary to his campaign promises of conducting local government election three months after being sworn in.

"From all indication, Malam El-rufai is seriously afraid of conducting local government election because, the unprecedented defeat that will befall it shall be monumental, hence we strongly conهdemn the perpetual refusal of the government to conduct local government council elections.

" in. The 2016 budget, Kaduna state government has made provision of N3.5 billion for local government election in the local government budget. We are in November, 2016 what will happen to the funds at the expiration of el-rufai tenure because it is evident that he has no intension to conduct the election.

"Since the advent of this current democracy, the local government administration in Kaduna State has never been in a worse situation like it is today.

"It is evident that through out the tenure of the so called interim management committee‎, not for once has the governor released the local government funds to them directly as it came from the Federation account allocation committee. He never remitted the ten percent of the state internally generated revenue to the local government areas as he promised. All the political pledgeds and promises Mal. El-rufai made on the local government autonomy are all lies aimed at misleading the good people of Kaduna State.

"In the light of all this, we challenge the government to tell the general public on the monthly local government details of the amount of money that has accrued to ‎the 23 local government areas in the last 18 months and the SURE-P funds he inherited. He should also account for the over ten billion naira capital expenditure provided in the local government budget 2016 as a sign of transparency and accountability."
