First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Calls for Stronger Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
On the occasion of the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse 2025, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged collective action to safeguard children across the country. This year’s theme is “Strengthening the Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Through Evidence-Based Policy Making.”
In her message, Senator Tinubu stressed that protecting children requires more than words and goodwill, calling for informed action driven by accurate data, research, and sound policies.
“As a nation, we must ensure that every child grows up free from fear and harm. I call on government agencies, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, parents, and young people to work together to create a protective environment where children can feel safe to thrive,” she said.
The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to promoting the welfare of children in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of evidence-based policies in preventing abuse and supporting victims.
She concluded her message with a heartfelt prayer:
