First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Named Leadership Newspapers’ Person of the Year 2025
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been officially notified of her selection as the Person of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspapers, recognizing her impactful interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The notification was delivered during a courtesy visit by the newspaper’s management team, led by its Chairman, Mrs. Zainab Nda-Isaiah. Receiving the honor, Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude, describing it as a motivation to do more for Nigerians.
“With this, I am fired up for the year,” she said. “I am guided by scripture, which says I can do all things. There is still more for me to do, especially for the common man.” She added, “I like to work hard because my husband is a hard-working man.”
The First Lady also highlighted the need for women to work diligently in a male-dominated world, encouraging young women to be confident, focused, and persistent. “I have never seen man as a challenge, but that makes me know that I have to work three times as hard to get ahead,” she said.
Senator Tinubu further praised the late founder of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah, for his integrity, and thanked the newspaper’s management for their continued support.
Mrs. Zainab Nda-Isaiah explained that the Board and Management of Leadership Newspapers reached a unanimous decision in selecting the First Lady for the award, citing her measurable impact and leadership through RHI since the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu began in 2023.
The Senior Vice Chairman of the group, Azu Ishiekwene, noted that Senator Tinubu has redefined the Office of the First Lady, making it a platform for leadership, passion, and life-changing interventions that cut across tribal, religious, and political divides.
The 18th edition of the Leadership Newspapers Person of the Year Award is scheduled for February 12, 2026. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has previously received the honor three times.
