According to a statement by Oluwaseun Fabiyi, media aide to Prophet Israel Genesis, the prophet has concluded a deeply reflective journey to Medina and Mecca, places of profound spiritual significance to billions of people worldwide.
The celebrated prophet reasserted that his visit was focused on fostering understanding, humility, heritage, and humanity, devoid of any motive for religious conversion, competition, or comparison.
He further elaborated in his statement, ‘Growing up, I was nurtured by an environment of love, prayer, and faith. My mother, being a dedicated Muslim, consistently lifted me up in prayer, one of which was a heartfelt petition that God would grant me the blessing of visiting the Holy Land when I grew older. While the depth of her prayer wasn’t clear to me then, God understood its significance.’
Decades afterward, I was divinely guided to visit Medina and Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and in that moment, the profound implications of my mother’s daily prayers, which transcended temporal and denominational boundaries, became palpably clear.
Additionally, “during my sojourn in Medina, I experienced a profound sense of calmness, orderliness, and reverence. Based on my observations, the city fosters discipline, patience, and communal harmony. Conversely, Mecca strips the soul of pride; witnessing the unity of millions of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures was a poignant reminder that our fundamental nature as human beings transcends our differences in faith, tribe, or nationality, and that we are all creations of God.
I opted for this journey because gaining exposure fosters deeper understanding, which in turn cultivates peace. Conversely, ignorance ignites hatred, whereas knowledge dispels it. In today’s fragmented world, leaders, particularly spiritual leaders, must transcend their own doctrinal boundaries”.
Visiting sacred sites outside one’s own faith tradition does not erode belief, but rather fortifies wisdom.
This experience strengthened a fundamental conviction that I have consistently held and imparted: humanity precedes religion, and in the afterlife, distinctions such as ‘Christian section’ or ‘Muslim section’ will be nonexistent. Ultimately, what matters is our relationship with God and our accountability for how we treated one another.
I observed the discipline, devotion, and order exhibited by the worshippers, as well as efficient systems and structures that uphold sanctity and a shared reverence for sacred institutions.Every society and faith community can derive valuable lessons from these without discrimination.
The purpose of my visit was to gain insight, not to debate doctrine. God’s wisdom surpasses human comprehension. By experiencing different perspectives, observing diverse practices, and respecting others, we mature. My journey reinforced the importance of peace, unity, and core values like faith, sacrifice, obedience, love, and hope.
My devout wish is that individuals will prioritize seeking understanding over fostering conflict, opt for exposure rather than hiding in isolation, and choose love instead of fear, remembering that our shared humanity takes precedence over religious differences and God’s benevolence encompasses all.
