Abidemi Hakeem Olalekan, popularly known as Abidex is a renowned entrepreneur, educationist, community leader, and politician whose life embodies resilience, service, and vision. His journey began in the streets of Ojokoro, Ifako-Ijaiye, where he was born, raised, and molded by the realities and hopes of the community he now seeks to serve at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Abidex is not a stranger to the people. He is a product of the community someone who understands the pains, dreams, and aspirations of the market woman in Fagba, the student in Obawole, the artisan in Ijaiye, and the youth in Ojokoro. His story is one of grass-to-grace, leadership, and an unshakable commitment to public service.
EARLY LIFE AND LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION
From an early age, Abidemi Hakeem Olalekan demonstrated uncommon leadership qualities, discipline, and a passion for excellence. These attributes set him apart among his peers.
During his secondary school years, he was unanimously appointed Head Boy in recognition of his outstanding academic performance, moral uprightness, and exemplary character. That position was more than a title. It was his first classroom in governance — learning how to listen, how to mediate, how to serve, and how to carry responsibility for others.
The experience shaped his worldview: that leadership is not about titles, but about service. It planted in him the seed that would later grow into a lifelong commitment to community development.
A COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT
After secondary school, rather than seek personal comfort, Hon. Abidemi chose the path of impact. He worked as a teacher in several schools within Ifako-Ijaiye, including the respected Hills College.
In the classroom, he did more than teach subjects. He mentored, counseled, and inspired young people to believe in themselves. Many of his former students today are professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders in their own right — a testament to his influence as an educationist.
His dedication to learning also led him to pursue higher education. He gained admission into the prestigious University of Ilorin, which at the time was widely regarded as the most stable federal university in Nigeria, being the only one that had not embarked on an industrial strike.
At UNILORIN, Hon. Abidemi distinguished himself not only academically but also in character. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry, with specialization in (Biotechnology) equipped with knowledge, critical thinking, and the values of hard work and integrity that would define his career.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COMMUNITY IMPACT
After university, Hon. Abidemi transitioned into entrepreneurship. Today, he is a successful business owner with interests in Real Estate and Digital Solution Services Through his businesses, he has created jobs and opportunities for hundreds of youths across Lagos, with a special focus on Ifako-Ijaiye residents.
But beyond profit, his businesses have always carried a social mission. He believes that a thriving community is the best environment for business to grow. This philosophy has driven him to sponsor skill acquisition programs, support small-scale traders with grants, and provide educational materials for indigent students in Ojokoro and surrounding areas.
He is widely known for his accessibility. Unlike many, Abidex does not wait for election season to show up. He has consistently attended community meetings, supported bereaved families, sponsored local tournaments, and partnered with CDAs to address immediate needs in his constituency.
THE POLITICAL CALL: WHY IFAKO-IJAIYE 02, WHY NOW
The decision to run for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 02 in 2027 under the ADC, did not come as a surprise to those who know him. For years, constituents have called on him to represent them — because they see in him a leader who listens first and acts second.
Abidemi Hakeem Olalekan answered the call with a clear vision: “To bring the dividends of democracy to every home in Ifako-Ijaiye 02.

PERSONALITY AND PHILOSOPHY
Those who know Abidex describe him in three words: Humble. Accessible. Determined.
He believes that “a leader must first be a servant.” He believes that government must work for the people, not the other way around. And he believes that the time for Ifako-Ijaiye 02 to have purposeful representation is now.
