ESEA Eyes Polytechnic Status As Olota Of Ota Charges Youths On Skills Acquisition
EOTWILLIAM Skills and Enterprise Academy (ESEA) has announced plans to pursue polytechnic status and expand its technical and vocational education programmes, as the Olota of Ota, His Royal Majesty, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, urged youths to embrace skills acquisition as a pathway to self-reliance, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
The announcement was made on Saturday, October 10, during the academy’s 2026 Open Day held at its campus, 7 Babarere, behind Lucia Filling Station, Igbala, Ota, Ogun State.
The event featured facility tours, practical demonstrations and interactions with instructors and learners, allowing guests to assess the institution’s training methods and development plans.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of EOTWILLIAM, Pastor Peter Oluwatobi Ogundele, said the academy was committed to developing competent, innovative and entrepreneurial individuals capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.
According to him, the vision to upgrade the academy to a polytechnic is driven by the need to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry-required skills, while providing globally competitive technical education.
Our goal is not just to train, but to raise job creators and problem solvers. We want to build an institution where young Nigerians can acquire relevant skills that will make them self-reliant and employable anywhere in the world. The move towards polytechnic status is part of that long-term vision,” Ogundele said.
He added that the academy is already expanding its programmes to cover more vocational and enterprise-driven courses to meet the demands of the 21st-century economy.
In his remarks, the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, who was the Royal Father of the Day, commended the management of ESEA for its commitment to youth development and called on Nigerian youths to prioritize skills acquisition over white-collar job dependency.
The monarch noted that in today’s economy, skills and entrepreneurship remain the most sustainable path to economic empowerment and national development.
I want to urge our youths to take skills acquisition very seriously. Certificate alone is no longer enough. What you can do with your hands is what will put food on your table. Institutions like ESEA are doing a great job in complementing government efforts,” the Olota said.
The 2026 Open Day also witnessed goodwill messages from community leaders, parents, and industry partners who lauded the academy’s impact in Ota and its environs.
EOTWILLIAM Skills and Enterprise Academy is a private technical and vocational institution focused on skills development, entrepreneurship training and enterprise incubation for youths and adults.
