Today, I stand with the great people of Ibadan, to honour a leader of uncommon vision and a true son of Yoruba land — His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja — as he marks his 81st birthday and ascends the revered throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Oba Ladoja life’s journey reflects the finest values of our people — courage, wisdom, resilience, and service to humanity. As a leader in politics, he carried the torch of progressive governance; as a businessman, he exemplified excellence; and now, as custodian of the Ibadan throne, he ascends to the sacred duty of preserving tradition while guiding his people with justice and dignity.
This moment is more than a personal celebration. It is the crowning of a legacy — the union of statesmanship and monarchy, where decades of service to community and country find their highest expression in the Olubadan stool.
May Oba Ladoja’s reign bring peace, prosperity, and unity, not only to Ibadan but to all Yoruba sons and daughters. May his days be long, his wisdom ever deep, and his legacy endure in the annals of history.
