The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has praised the Armed Forces and security agencies for their commitment to safeguarding the nation. She made the remarks during a meeting with the wives of newly appointed service chiefs at the State House, Abuja.

Senator Tinubu expressed concern over the recent abduction of 25 students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, and observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Vice Principal.

She highlighted the critical role of the service chiefs’ spouses, noting that their support complements the sacrifices made by their husbands.

“Your husbands have pledged to protect the nation and its citizens, often at great personal risk. I pray for their success and safety. You, too, have a role to play in supporting them as they fulfill these responsibilities,” she said.

The First Lady also reminded her guests about the upcoming Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Annual Elderly Support Programme in December, which will benefit veterans among other vulnerable groups. She encouraged them to extend care for the elderly beyond the RHI activities.

In response, Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, wife of the Inspector General of Police, commended Senator Tinubu for her national initiatives, including empowering vulnerable communities, awarding scholarships, and providing healthcare support.

In a related engagement, Senator Tinubu received the management of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who decorated her as the Grand Matron of Road Safety Special Marshals. She used the occasion to advocate for increased technology adoption and inter-agency collaboration to reduce road crashes.

“I hope to see more speed limits enforced using modern technology, and more FRSC personnel deployed on roads during the yuletide to enhance safety,” she stated.

The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to supporting national security and public safety initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government agencies, communities, and families.
