The GTCO 2024 fashion weekend was indeed a gathering of Africa’s vast creativities to the forefront of the fashion industry. With the tremendous support of GTCO by creating a business atmosphere towards offering great growth and expansion beyond Africa’s soul, a fashion industry that showcased and paraded the best collections to the world.

Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, in his welcome address made available Agbaje explained that the essence and vision behind the GTCO fashion weekend, which includes promoting, empowering and celebrating incredible talents across. He further stated that fashion has no limits and, indeed, goes beyond geographic boundaries.
” Last year, we took a bold step forward by introducing virtual casting, expanding our reach far beyond geographic boundaries. The innovative idea allowed us to include talents from every corner of the continent, proving that fashion truly has no limits.”

He, however, added that the impact of African designers’ creativity has taken African fashion out of Africa’s soul to international brands by showcasing it across the world
“As we celebrate this year’s edition, let us also reflect on the broader impact of African fashion on the world; it is a growing global phenomenon, embraced by international designers and celebrities.” Adding that, ” African designs are appearing in luxury boutiques in Paris, Milan and New York and our fabric, patterns and aesthetics are influencing fashion houses worldwide.” He said.
Meanwhile, this year, the GTCO Fashion Weekend lineup witnessed the presence of Lulu Kennedy MBE, who is the Founder & Director of Fashion East & MAN & the Lulu & Co clothing line.
She is also Editor-at-large of Condé Nast’s biannual LOVE magazine as ujjwal as well as working as a consultant for brands. She spoke on ‘incubating talent: supporting the next generation in the first masterclass of the event,’ while Patricia Bright, an entrepreneur and a multi-award winning globally recognised content creator with a following of over 4 million spanning the globe has grown over the last 15 years.

On the second day of the event master class lineup intends to feature the likes of Sheila Daley, Ted Gibson, while the presentation stage designers will feature, Ibilola Ogudipe, Jewel Jamila, Elpis Magalio, and Lohije among others.
The GTCO fashion weekend will witness over 140 curated pop-up fashion retail stores, a Craft/Fabric market and 12 runway shows featuring Africa’s finest and international designers.
