Ilora Baptist Grammar School old students Association ignites ilora
It was a night to remember for good in Ilora the Northern part of Ibadan Oyo state when the the association of old students of Ilora Baptist Grammar School celebrated their 46 years of re union on Saturday 15th , February 2025
The event which kicked off on Friday February 14 with a Tagged ” Home Coming Party ” was witnessed by many dignities
Speaking after the event on Saturday the president of the association, Dr. Lolu Ojo stated the reasons why they were having the 46 years of re union party
“We actually come together last year for our 45th years anniversary. Our coming together stems from the fact that we are not happy with the situation of things in school which we left in 1979. The entire infrastructure was down, so we all came down to Lagos and do all we could to make the structure better, which as I said earlier started last year. We invited the principal to tell him our plans. We are not happy with the results the school was yarning out in WAEC and so we discussed with the principal of the school. He told us it what it was going on in other schools too but I said we are not going to take it, this is not the school we passed through. Then we told him ( the principal) let us rebuild the school, we did it and in process the teachers agreed with us , they forfeit their Easter holidays. The students will be in school as early 7am they will be there till evening. Even on Saturdays and Sundays they are coming for special coaching. At the end of the day our efforts was not wasted as the school set of 2023/24 got a very good results especially in English Language and Mathematics. Then we let people know that it’s not only in academy that they needed a help. The environment was not condusive , we go a little bit further. We introduce a program called ” Adopt a child” program. We will pick you as a sorogate parents. And you will paid for the scholarships of the adopted child. Some of this students doesn’t have school uniform, school Sandals, books and so on. The scholarship money is not given to the child by cash but rather the money is used to do all the necessary things the child needs .
We have been priveledge to bring the governor here , that is governor Seyi Makinde the Oyo state governor when will commissioned this hall. And we still intend to bring him down here again before he lives office ”
The 2 days event came to an end dinner which preceded the given out of the scholarship to the fortune students who are over 200 hundred in figures
