.."I totally agree that some of these media managers need to be detraumatised for them to know the trauma they had inflicted on many of their colleagues and upcoming journalists they shortlived their careers in the news room over petty issues. This is not a defense for incompetence or indiscipline at all but a call for a rethink because perfection belongs to God only. Those they have sacked were bread winners of their families. Yes I am aware that the media is suffering from revenue crisis which calls for all hands to be on the deck to rescue things. There is a media house after Berger area in Lagos, you can be employed in the morning and get sacked in the afternoon. That has contributed to the over 75 percent of the Nigerian journalists suffering from financial trauma apart from those being owed salaries in other outfits. While Dr Oso was teaching me at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in 2002, he never told me that sometimes in this field I would be owed four years salary. This is the reality of the media practice in Nigeria today that should be the starting point of trauma literacy in the media"

Dr Ajibola Abayomi, President JIFORM.
