Eyewitnesses report that the group, comprising young men from his hometown, confronted Kelvin near the park and was beaten mercilessly with iron rod.

“They shouted homophobic slurs, chased him, and cornered him. One of them smatch the iron rod on his leg and another one hit Kelvin in the arm, and blood started goshing out” an eyewitness recounted.

“Kelvin was rejected at the hospital close to the scene of the attack out of fear and was later taken to a nearby herbalist by good Samaritan where he received temporal treatment.”

Our correspondent who later contacted Kelvin in Ota gathered that the group of youth who attacked him were his town youth who also attended his father’s burial laying claims that if he had done the spiritual cleansing over his sexual orientation, his father may still be alive.

Asking Kelvin while he did not wait for proper medical treatment before leaving Mbiri, said he knew that his life is at risk and he has gone to Ota State Hospital to treat his wound and received proper treatment.
“I lied to the doctor over the attack and decided to leave the hospital quickly, since the group might still come around and attack him and he doesn’t want to die”.
