Oluremi Tinubu Inaugurates 10 Digital Learning Centres, Champions Women’s Inclusion in Technology
In a major step toward boosting digital literacy and youth empowerment, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated ten new Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Digital Learning Centres across ten states of the federation.
Speaking during a virtual commissioning ceremony held at her office in Abuja, Senator Tinubu emphasized that advancing digital literacy remains critical to driving inclusive growth and national development.
The new centres, located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States, are designed to promote access to digital skills training, innovation, and entrepreneurship opportunities for young Nigerians.
“I urge members of the various beneficiary communities to make good use of these facilities to enhance learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship, thereby improving livelihoods and contributing to national development,” she said.
The First Lady explained that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to accelerate economic diversification through industrialization and digitalization. She noted that the digitization of key sectors such as agriculture and small-scale trading would ease business operations and improve profitability for Nigerians.
The Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who also spoke at the event, described digital transformation as a catalyst for economic diversification and national prosperity, especially for women and youth.
“This partnership with the Renewed Hope Initiative is empowering Nigerians across the country and creating pathways for inclusivity and development,” Abdullahi said.
Wives of the governors of the benefiting states joined the inauguration virtually from their respective locations.
The initiative builds on the 296 digital learning centres already established under the current administration — 15 of which were executed in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative. NITDA is also working to complete an additional 148 digital infrastructure projects nationwide, targeting a total of 592 centres by 2027
