President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday led a gathering of top Nigerian and international dignitaries at the official presentation of From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, a book chronicling the life and leadership journey of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

The event, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, was attended by the wife of the late President, Dr Aisha Buhari; First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; the President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow; and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima.

Unveiling the book, President Tinubu described the publication as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s political history, noting that Buhari’s life embodied discipline, resilience and an enduring commitment to public service. He was assisted during the unveiling by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and President Barrow.

Also present at the ceremony were the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; senior government officials, diplomats, members of the political class and other distinguished guests.

Author of the book, Dr Charles Omole, joined President Tinubu, Dr Aisha Buhari, President Barrow and the First Lady in holding copies of the publication, symbolising the collective honour paid to the late Nigerian leader’s legacy.

The book, From Soldier to Statesman, traces Buhari’s evolution from a military officer to a democratically elected president, highlighting defining moments of his leadership, personal values and contributions to Nigeria’s national development.

The presentation drew a wide cross-section of dignitaries, underscoring Buhari’s enduring influence in Nigeria and across the African continent, as well as the respect he commanded beyond the country’s borders.

The event concluded with goodwill messages and reflections on the late President’s life, leadership and place in Nigeria’s political history.
