Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has paid tribute to the resilience and courage of girls across the country and around the world, calling for sustained efforts to empower and support them to achieve their full potential.

In a statement marking the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” Senator Tinubu urged collective action to uplift and protect girls, especially those facing hardship, discrimination, or displacement.

“To every brave girl striving to reach the classroom, walking miles for water, or carrying the quiet strength of displacement, you are seen, you are heard, and valued. Your courage lights the way to a brighter future,” the First Lady said.

She emphasized that the day serves as a reminder of the daily struggles faced by girls and the urgent need to create opportunities for them to thrive in education, leadership, and nation-building.

“Let us come together to support our girls to reach their maximum potential,” she added.

The International Day of the Girl Child is observed annually on October 11 to highlight the challenges faced by girls globally and to promote their rights to education, equality, and empowerment.
