One of the most respected names in Nigeria’s policing world: Commissioner of Police Akin Victor Fakorede, a barrister, a forensic genius, and a man whose career has left behind a trail of integrity that her keyboard tantrums cannot erase.

Only a delusional attention-seeker would dare call such a man “a criminal in uniform.” That statement alone deserves to be filed under fiction, right next to fairy tales and Nollywood melodramas. Nigerians know better. CP Fakorede is no criminal; he is the man who has cracked complex cases, trained younger investigators, and raised the profile of forensic policing in this country. He is what every serious officer aspires to become.

So why does Duru foam at the mouth against him? The answer is simple: irrelevance. A woman who desperately wants to matter, who longs for the spotlight, but who has neither facts nor credibility to sustain her claims. So she manufactures scandal. She brands herself “Prof. Mgbeke” (already a comedy in itself) and hopes that throwing mud at a decorated officer will make her look important. Unfortunately for her, Nigerians are not fools. They can smell envy and desperation from a mile away.

Dr. Okorieem Mente, leader of the Friends of Akin Fakorede, captured it perfectly: “This is not activism; this is character assassination. She is not exposing corruption; she is exposing her own bitterness.” The Integrity Youth Alliance was even more brutal, dismissing her claims as “cheap blackmail unworthy of public debate.” They are right. There is no debate here. There is only nonsense masquerading as truth.

What evidence has she produced? None. What facts has she laid out? Zero. Instead, she hides behind emotional outbursts and self-promotion. She shouts, insults, contradicts herself, and then repeats the cycle. If this is her idea of whistleblowing, then Nigeria needs protection from her whistle.

Let us be very clear: nobody is above criticism. If CP Fakorede were guilty of any crime, Nigerians would demand accountability. But criticism is not the same thing as character assassination. Duru’s posts are not criticism; they are the ravings of a desperate attention merchant who has found in Fakorede’s spotless record the perfect canvas for her smear paint.

The real tragedy is not even her tantrum; it is the damage she tries to inflict on Nigeria’s image abroad. When a self-proclaimed “professor” uses Facebook to brand a respected forensic investigator as a criminal, the international community sees the Nigerian Police dragged through mud by one of our own. That is not just foolishness; it is sabotage. And sabotage, make no mistake, is criminal.

Meanwhile, the man at the center of this storm remains calm, focused, and unbothered. CP Fakorede does not need to shout. His record speaks. His colleagues testify. His cases prove. His life of service is its own defence.

Sandra Duru wants a war of words. She will not get it. What she will get is the ridicule of Nigerians who see through her game. She will get the full weight of the Cybercrimes Act if she persists. And she will be remembered not as the woman who exposed a corrupt officer but as the woman who destroyed her own credibility in a desperate bid for attention.

History has no patience for noise-makers. It records the builders, the men and women who contribute something of substance. In that book, CP Akin Victor Fakorede’s name is already inscribed. Sandra Duru, on the other hand, has only written herself into the footnotes of infamy — a case study in how not to be taken seriously.
