Why I want to Represent Ado Odo-Ota federal Constituency at the National Assembly – Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun (aka) Larrybash

….I am a Grassroot Leader, I understand what my People needs
The NUJ Independent Online Chapel Ota organized a roundtable discussion on Sunday, 22nd June 2025, featuring Chief Honorable Taofeeq Olarewaju Bashorun, also known as Larry Bash, who occupies the roles of Sheriki of Awori Land and Chief of Staff to the Olota of Ota, Ogun State
The official introduction of all members of the Otta NUJ Independent Online Chapel took place, with the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Kayode Taiwo, moderating the session and featuring a special appearance by Mr. Dele Salako
Comrade Kayode Taiwo’s opening speech highlighted the necessity for members of the Otta NUJ Independent Online Chapel to be visible within the Ota jurisdictions and Ogun State at large and to build relationships with key political stakeholders within the Ota axis, thereby curtailing the influence of unprofessional journalists
Chief Honorable Taofeeq Olarewaju Bashorun, also known as Larry Bash, commenced by expressing his gratitude to the NUJ Ota Independent Online Chapel for their proactive stance and welcoming individuals to the residence of Sheriki’s father, where the title of Sheriki is the official family chieftaincy title widely recognized within the Ota axis and its environs
Speaking forward, he urged the association or individuals to always write Sango-Otta in full in all their reports, which is very necessary
Discussing his political career, Chief Honorable Taofeeq Olarewaju Bashorun, who returned to Nigeria in 2004 and landed in Lagos State where he initiated his political journey, noted that Otta people are endowed with educated political stalwarts, including the Olota of Otta, who is a professor and lecturer
“As a grassroots politician, I possess an intimate understanding of the dynamics within Otta and its surrounding areas, and I am well-versed in the challenges and hardships faced by the people, which is why, come 2027, I will be seeking election to the House of Representatives, representing the Ado Odo Ota federal constituency, a position I believe will enable me to serve my constituents more effectively”.
Would he be able to perform or serve his community more effectively if he wins a seat in the House of Representatives than he does now as Sheriki with full access?
“Within my capacity and jurisdiction, I have provided substantial medical support to numerous individuals within my community, including elderly men and women. Religious leaders can attest to my commitment and personal assistance, which I have rendered using my resources. Furthermore, the community youth acknowledges my prompt responsibility in addressing individual welfare and community needs within Awori access. I am confident that, if elected, I will excel beyond my current endeavors, even without political backing”.
Having interacted with all the companies within the Ota axis, I once met His Royal Majesty, the Olota of Otta, to organize an industrial summit aimed at gathering all the companies for the improvement and development of Ota.Through my robust grassroots political infrastructure, I have garnered a deep comprehension of our community and its people’s struggles, fostered by my direct engagement with them, thus granting me an advantage in meeting their immediate needs
In 1989, he successfully completed his secondary education and embarked on a career in national security, serving with distinction in both Lagos and the North. His professional journey has been marked by leadership roles at Gokada and Chairman of Lagos Goat and Ram Butchers, where he effectively managed two abattoirs. He also established a thriving security agency company in Lagos before pursuing international studies in the United Kingdom, returning with renewed enthusiasm and confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for a brighter future
In terms of funding, I firmly believe that we are well-prepared and will never lag behind, even when compared to industries within our jurisdiction. I am confident that we can complete the necessary infrastructure and tailor it to our specific needs. I believe that our community will witness significant road infrastructural development
I aim to utilize my networking to construct a market and motor park, encouraging robust cooperation amongst our community within Ado Odo-Ota jurisdictions, due to the presence of substantial landmarks and the need to develop Ado Odo-Ota’s social and commercial infrastructure.
*On Economic Challenges within Ado-Odo/Ota:*
“By providing self-care and facilitating connections among people of Ado Odo-Ota community through our social networking initiatives, individuals’ connections and networking can lead to improved outcomes for our constituency, much like how our Kabiesi’s personal connections yielded the best police station and immigration/passport office. Similarly, leveraging local industries within our jurisdiction can enhance Ado Odo-Ota community development. Moreover, engaging and establishing youths within our communities is crucial”.
To conclude, Comrade Kayode Taiwo thanked all members who participated in the roundtable discussion with Chief Honorable Taofeeq Olarewaju Bashorun, also known as Larry Bash, and encouraged him to leverage his position as Sheriki of this community to foster the growth of this esteemed association, as Kabiesi has committed to providing a landed property and personal support.
