Insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in Kwara South, has become a persistent concern that is no longer newsworthy, having evolved into a daily challenge for Nigerians who feel unsafe in their communities due to the government’s inability to eradicate it over the decades. Reflecting on the historical narrative within our purview, ErukuCity notably stood out as a beacon of security in the Kwara metropolis in bygone days, distinguished by the bravery of local hunters who, believing in their local voodoo, were undaunted by kidnappers and bandits, exemplifying the legendary ‘O’gboju Ode Eruku bi Ekun’, our forebears.

In reality, no community has opposed the government security agencies, but we believe the local Ologbo Dudu Eti-Aja security warriors can offer additional support in ensuring maximum security within the community, given their intimate knowledge of the forest terrain and their ability to navigate its routes effectively. The emergence of these security warriors is highly anticipated, given the widespread establishment of local security initiatives across the country to safeguard communities and individual lives. The Ologbo Dudu Eti-Aja security warriors were formally established with governmental backing and registered as a legitimate community security group under the leadership of Jacob Ayodele, the Akogun of ErukuCity 1

The new security would work in conjunction with local security outfits like vigilante groups, hunters, and forest guards. Nevertheless, it is well-known that the Ologbo Dudu Eti-Aja security warriors will focus primarily on traditional voodoo to exhibit the superior knowledge of their ancestors, says Akogun 1

In a phone call with the publisher of Bethnews Media, Jacob Ayodele Akogun reiterated that the Ologbo Dudu Eti-Aja security warriors are committed to protecting ErukuCity, dedicating themselves to the safety and security of its distinguished sons and daughters day and night

In reference to government empowerment regarding weaponry, Akugun Jacob Ayodele responded that the Ologbo Dudu Eti-Aja security warriors will not depend on government weapons, but rather utilize their local voodoo practices, as the great warlords did in the past

Jacob Ayodele Akogun stated that the Owa of ErukuCity, Oba Busari Amulududoye I, garnered support for the formation of local security forces due to prevailing societal concerns, and urged ErukuCity descendants globally to remain calm and assured of their safety, allowing them to visit their ancestral land without fear of abduction or banditry. He ended by appealing to all well-meaning sons and daughters of the land to sustain their support with consistent prayer.
