Obasa, K1 De Ultimate, Iyalaje Toyin Kolade, Other VIPs To Grace Seasoned Journalist, Tade Asifat’s Turbanning as ‘Saraki Adini’ of Lagos Community Central Mosque Nov. 8

Alhaji Tade Asifat, a seasoned journalist and former editor of Encomium weekly magazine, is set to be turbanned as ‘Seriki Adini’ of the Aranse Oluwa Central Mosque, Abule Egba, Ojokoro area of Lagos State.
The ceremony, which will also feature the presentation of merit awards to deserving Muslim philanthropists, is scheduled to hold on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at the premises of the mosque, located at Paul Street, Abule Egba, Ojokoro, Lagos.
According to a statement made available by the leadership of Aranse Oluwa Central Mosque, the organizers of the events, the conferment of the prestigious Islamic title on Alhaji Asifat is in recognition of his contributions to the development of the mosque, the surrounding community and the advancement of Islam.
“Alhaji Asifat’s consistent support for religious and community development initiatives have distinguished him as a committed contributor to the growth and wellbeing of our community,” the statement reads.
The organizers stated that, beyond his contributions to the mosque and the wider community, Alhaji Asifat’s philanthropic activities are also expected to feature prominently in the reasons for his selection for the honour, adding that “his concern for the less privileged and his philanthropic gestures have earned him recognition among members of the community and informed the decision to honour him with the title of Seriki Adini”.
The turbanning will, therefore, mark an important milestone in the life of the top journalist, who has combined his professional career with community service, religious activities and humanitarian intervention.
The event is expected to attract Islamic scholars, community leaders, traditional figures, politicians, professionals, journalists, philanthropists and other distinguished guests from Lagos and beyond. Among the dignitaries expected at the occasion are the speaker of the Lagos State house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa and Governor Sanwo-Olu’s media adviser, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, who are listed as Special Guests.
Other personalities designated as guests of honour are Fuji music icon, K1 De Ultimate who is listed as Father of the Day, while businesswoman and philanthropist, Princess Toyin Kolade is expected to sit as Mother of the Day.
The programme of the day will not be limited to the turbanning ceremony, as the organisers have also lined up a merit award presentation to recognise individuals whose contributions to Islam, community development and humanitarian causes have been considered worthy of commendation.
The award segment is expected to celebrate Muslim philanthropists and other individuals who have contributed to the development of the community and the promotion of Islamic values.
Listed for special recognition are Alhaji Shamsideen Adesina, the ‘Asiwaju Adeen of Aranse Oluwa Central Mosque and Father of the Day; Alhaji Chief AbduLateef Adeolu (Asalu of Idimu Land); Hon. Otunba Akindele, the first chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government; Alhaja Fatimo Balogun (Faaji) and Alhaja Adiat Adesina, among others. Other personalities billed for the turbanning with Alhaji Asifat are Alhaji Akanbi Yusuf as ‘Alakoso Adeen’; Alhaja Zainab Sauta as ‘Olori Odo Adeen Obinrin’; Alhaja Rashidat Yusuf Titilope as ‘Iyalode Adeen’, and Alhaja Khadijat Hamzat as ‘Arowoshe Adeen’.
For Alhaji Tade Asifat, the conferment of the Seriki Adini title represents recognition of a relationship with the mosque and community that goes beyond ceremonial participation but based more on spirit of Islamic brotherhood and contributions to religious and humanitarian causes.
