Political rumours are not new to Nigeria’s electoral landscape. As political contests intensify, speculation, misinformation and competing narratives often emerge, leaving supporters and the general public struggling to distinguish facts from fiction.

 

The unfolding political situation in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election is no exception.

Recent claims suggesting that Hon. Abayomi Semako Hunye, an All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant, has withdrawn from the race have generated questions among his supporters and other political stakeholders. However, Hunye has dismissed the reports, insisting that his aspiration remains intact and that he is determined to pursue his case through the appropriate legal channels.

 

His position is unequivocal: he has not withdrawn from the contest.

The clarification is significant, particularly against the backdrop of the dispute surrounding the APC governorship primary and the legal proceedings arising from the controversy.
