While publicly projecting camaraderie, sources within the party claim the Governor is quietly working to secure full control of the party structure before formally declaring his political direction for 2027.

Observers point to the Governor’s appearance at the burial ceremony of Chief Lucia Onabanjo, where he reportedly arrived alongside political figure GNI, even as he maintained visible public engagement with Yayi.

Insiders allege that behind the scenes, there are moves to position GNI as a preferred successor candidate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, allegedly through strategic lobbying and quiet consultations involving high-ranking federal actors.
